US fintech company WorkFusion has secured a $45 million investment, led by growth-stage investor Georgian, to further develop its suite of AI agents for financial crime compliance (FCC) operations. The investment, announced on September 17, 2025, also saw participation from Serengeti Asset Management, Nokia Growth Partners (NGP Capital), Teralys Capital, and Hawk Equity, with WorkFusion CEO Adam Famularo also contributing.

Based in New York, WorkFusion has now raised a total of at least $350 million since its inception in 2010. This latest investment follows a $220 million Series F funding round in 2021, which was also led by Georgian. Earlier funding rounds included a $35 million Series D in 2017 and a $50 million Series E in 2018.

In 2022, WorkFusion strategically shifted its focus from general automation and intelligent document processing to specializing in AI agents designed for FCC within the banking sector. The company currently offers six distinct agents, each tailored to automate a specific aspect of FCC. These areas include anti-money laundering (AML), adverse media monitoring, sanctions screening alert reviews, know your customer (KYC), transaction monitoring investigations (TM), and enhanced due diligence (EDD).

WorkFusion states that its suite of AI agents is currently utilized by “10 of the top 20 banks.” Additionally, the company provides a no-code platform, enabling banks to develop their own customized AI agents. Adam Famularo noted that the agents are “saving customers about 40,000 hours a day of manual work.” He added that with the new investment, WorkFusion is “positioned for considerable growth as the market is ready for widespread adoption.”
