Vena to Acquire Acterys, Enhancing Microsoft-Native FP&A with Operational Planning

Vena, a provider of financial planning and analysis (FP&A) platforms, announced its definitive agreement to acquire Acterys, an operational planning and app development platform built on Power BI. The acquisition, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approval, is set to combine planning, analytics, and application development capabilities within the Microsoft technology ecosystem for enterprise clients.

The strategic move is designed to create a Microsoft-native environment for what Vena terms “Orchestrated Planning.” This concept aims to advance organizations beyond integrated planning, facilitating fully orchestrated and agentic AI-powered execution. Orchestrated Planning is described as a mature stage of planning that harmonizes and automates planning and execution cycles—including people, processes, technologies, and data—to ensure organizational insight, foresight, and alignment of decisions with strategic goals.

Through this acquisition, Vena plans to leverage its Excel-native FP&A capabilities and real-time data with Acterys’ proprietary Power BI write-back engine and unified analytics within Microsoft Fabric. This combination seeks to provide Finance and IT departments with a shared environment for building, extending, and operationalizing real-time functional and operational planning and scenario modeling at scale. The outcome is intended to be AI-powered planning that aligns strategy, systems, and execution across the enterprise.

Hunter Madeley, CEO of Vena, stated, “Our vision has always been to help companies run better by connecting people, data and processes. With Acterys, we’re unlocking the full potential of the Microsoft ecosystem by helping enterprises that leverage Excel, Power BI and other Microsoft technology to meaningfully increase the value they are creating for their teams, organization and the customers they support.”

Mike Zack, CEO of Acterys, commented on the synergy, saying, “Vena and Acterys bring together the best of both worlds—Excel for Finance and Power BI for IT—to deliver a unified planning and analytics experience. It’s the solution enterprises have been waiting for to align strategy, systems and execution across the Microsoft stack.”

Acterys, operating as Managility Pty Ltd, currently serves more than 300 global organizations, enabling IT leaders and business innovators to develop and scale custom planning, analytics, and data applications within Power BI and Microsoft Fabric. Both Vena and Acterys platforms are available through the Microsoft Marketplace, which allows for faster procurement and direct Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment (MACC) decrements.
