Temenos, the Swiss core banking software firm, has announced that Jean-Pierre Brulard is stepping down from his role as CEO with immediate effect, as of September 5, 2025. The company’s board of directors has appointed CFO Takis Spiliopoulos as interim CEO while it conducts a search for a permanent successor.

Brulard, a former executive vice president of VMware, had led Temenos since May 1, 2024, serving for 16 months. Takis Spiliopoulos, who has been the CFO of Temenos for the past six years, will assume the interim leadership role.

Temenos is currently working with an undisclosed executive search firm to identify its new permanent CEO. Discussing the transition, board chair Thibault de Tersant stated in a webcast that “After careful consideration, the board determined that this is now the right time to move forward with new leadership to execute the next phase of our strategy plan with a CEO dedicated to the long term, and with deep expertise in our field of operation.”

De Tersant further clarified, “We are not aggressively against Jean-Pierre, but we have determined that today, there is a need of very clear leadership for Temenos that Takis and then a permanent CEO can provide.” He also noted that key hires made under Brulard’s leadership, such as Barb Morgan as chief product and technology officer in October and Rohit Chauhan as chief technology officer in May, are working well within the executive team, and therefore, significant staff turmoil is not anticipated.

Commenting on his departure, Brulard said, “I am proud of everything achieved since I joined, much was accomplished during the 16 months of my tenure. I would like to thank everyone at Temenos, its customers and partners for their confidence. I wish all the best to the company.”
