Infracost, a platform designed to integrate cloud cost visibility directly into engineering workflows, has announced a $15 million Series A funding round to expand its solution for preventing cloud overspend.
The round was led by Pruven Capital, with additional participation from Y Combinator, Sequoia Capital, Mango Capital, Alumni Ventures, TIAA Ventures, and angel investors Paul Copplestone of Supabase and Timothy Chen of Essence VC. The funding aims to address the challenge of rapidly increasing public cloud spending, which is approaching a trillion dollars annually, often driven by engineers provisioning infrastructure without full awareness of associated costs.
Founded in 2021, Infracost integrates with developer platforms such as GitHub and GitLab to display the cost impact of infrastructure code changes before deployment. This proactive approach helps engineers prevent overspend, implement FinOps policies, and automate cost fixes within their existing workflows.
Hassan Khajeh-Hosseini, Infracost’s co-founder and CEO, stated, “The biggest driver of cloud cost growth isn’t AI or private cloud migrations; it’s decentralization — the ability for any engineer to launch whatever they need, whenever they need.” He added that Infracost automates FinOps principles and delivers them to engineers as they write or generate code, including with AI.
Currently, over 3,500 companies, encompassing 10 percent of the Fortune 500, utilize Infracost. The platform monitors more than 4 million prices across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, embedding directly into code reviews to identify cost issues before they reach production environments.
Sudip Chakrabarti, Partner at Pruven Capital, commented, “Infracost is the cloud checkout screen we’ve never had before. It meets developers where they already work and shows, in real time, how every code change impacts cloud costs — while suggesting optimizations that prevent overspend before it happens.”
The founding team, including brothers Hassan and Ali Khajeh-Hosseini, and Alistair Scott, previously developed one of the first cloud cost management products, which was acquired by Flexera. This experience solidified their belief that effective cloud cost control must originate with engineers during code reviews, rather than as a post-billing reconciliation.
Infracost recently launched AutoFix, a feature that uses AI to automatically resolve Infrastructure as Code issues directly within pull requests. Khajeh-Hosseini highlighted this by saying, “Traditional FinOps focuses on visibility after the fact… We’re focused on action — helping engineers fix code issues that might take hours, literally within seconds. And now, with AutoFix AI, the code is written for them.”
