This technology aims to assist in the investigation of human trafficking cases by enabling rapid, on-site victim identification using only a smartphone.
The partnership addresses a critical need in human trafficking investigations, where victims are often forced to use fake identities, stolen documents, or may not carry any identification, complicating rescue efforts. With more than 50 million people estimated to be living in human trafficking exploitation in 2025, the ability to quickly confirm an individual’s identity is vital for expediting their rescue.
Identy.io’s technology allows law enforcement to capture clear, high-quality fingerprint and facial images using a standard smartphone camera and LED flash, without physical contact. This reduces reliance on expensive Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) terminals and speeds up field operations. The technology, which is validated by the U.
S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), integrates easily into mobile apps via a native software development kit (SDK) for Android and iOS, transforming ordinary smartphones into secure biometric recognition tools.
