Cohesity and Google Cloud have announced an expanded collaboration to deliver new, integrated solutions for artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and data protection. This partnership aims to enhance cyber resilience, ensure the security, compliance, and sovereignty of sensitive information, and facilitate data-driven business transformation through enterprise AI deployments. The collaboration builds on existing product integrations between the two companies.
Sanjay Poonen, CEO and president of Cohesity, stated that the collaboration with Google Cloud represents a significant step in redefining how enterprises protect, secure, and gain insights from their data, transforming sovereignty into a source of trust. Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, added that the deepened partnership reflects a shared commitment to helping organizations securely unlock their data’s full potential at scale, enabling enterprises to accelerate AI transformation and build a more resilient future.
The expanded collaboration focuses on several key areas, including accelerating insights from AI-ready enterprise data. Organizations currently utilize Google’s Gemini models to enable Cohesity Gaia, Cohesity’s enterprise AI assistant, in both cloud and on-premises environments. Cohesity plans to embed Google Cloud’s Vertex AI Search capabilities into the Cohesity Gaia platform to provide grounded answers to user queries with citations from source files stored in Cohesity’s immutable data lake. Planned integration with Gemini Enterprise aims to offer secure access to historical enterprise data within the Cohesity Data Cloud from Google agents and partner ecosystems. A Google Cloud-hosted version of the Cohesity Gaia platform is currently available, leveraging Google Cloud’s global infrastructure for enhanced speed and availability.
In cybersecurity, the Cohesity Data Cloud platform incorporates Google Threat Intelligence to assist customers in detecting, responding to, and eliminating threats within their enterprise data stores. This integration enables proactive threat hunting and reactive scanning, supporting reliable cyber recoveries. The Cohesity CERT (Cyber Event Response Team) also works with Google Cloud’s Mandiant Incident Response team to support mutual clients in recovering from cyber incidents. Deeper integration of the Cohesity Data Cloud platform with Google Security Operations is expected to connect and automate security workflows, identify potential threats in backup data, and reduce response times. A planned cyber resilience SaaS offering, featuring cloud-isolated recovery from Google Cloud, is anticipated to enable rapid and secure recovery from cyberattacks, even when primary systems are compromised.
Regarding digital sovereignty, Cohesity has been certified as a Google Cloud Ready – Regulated & Sovereignty Solutions partner. This allows users to deploy the Cohesity Data Cloud solution within the Google Cloud Data Boundary to meet data residency and sovereign control requirements. Cohesity FortKnox, a cyber vaulting solution, on Google Cloud, will enable enterprises to maintain immutable, isolated copies of critical data within specific geographic regions, ensuring compliance with sovereignty requirements and providing policy-based controls to restrict recovery to approved jurisdictions.
Additionally, the collaboration expands data protection capabilities. Cohesity DataProtect enables organizations using Google Cloud to protect critical services such as Google Compute Engine, Google Cloud Storage, and various databases with immutable backups. Expanded support is planned for GKE, BigQuery, and other data-centric services, alongside enhanced regional storage options. All components of the Cohesity Data Cloud are accessible via the Google Cloud Marketplace. The collaboration will also involve new joint go-to-market programs, co-selling initiatives, and integrated marketing campaigns.
