Fortanix Introduces Multi-Sourced Quantum Entropy for Enhanced Data Security and Compliance

Share It:

Fortanix Inc., a global leader in data and AI security and pioneer of Confidential Computing, has introduced a new multi-sourced quantum entropy capability within Fortanix Data Security Manager (DSM). This innovation allows enterprises to diversify encryption key generation at the origin of trust, integrating independent, physics-based quantum entropy sources directly into its key management workflows through partnerships with Qrypt and Quantum Dice. This development aims to enable compliance requirements that mandate multiple entropy sources and extend zero-trust principles to the entropy layer.

Encryption serves as a fundamental component of digital security. However, with the rapid advancement of AI systems, quantum computing, and increasing threat sophistication, the quality and provenance of randomness used in encryption key generation are becoming critical for cryptographic resilience. Regulatory bodies across financial services and government sectors are increasingly recognizing entropy source diversification as a foundational control for modern cryptographic assurance. As quantum capabilities evolve, organizations are tasked with ensuring that the foundational elements of their cryptographic systems, including entropy, are resilient, verifiable, and prepared for future challenges.

Anand Kashyap, co-founder and CEO of Fortanix, stated that as enterprises re-evaluate their encryption algorithms, they must also examine the origin of trust within their cryptographic systems. He noted that integrating multi-sourced quantum entropy directly into Fortanix Data Security Manager eliminates single points of failure at the root of key generation, strengthening compliance, improving defense-in-depth, and extending zero-trust principles without requiring hardware disruption.

Fortanix DSM now integrates with external quantum entropy providers to supplement internal entropy pools used for encryption key generation. Unlike traditional hardware security module (HSM) architectures that rely on fixed hardware-based randomness, Fortanix’s software-defined approach facilitates the rapid integration of multiple external entropy sources without operational interruptions. Key capabilities include multi-sourced quantum entropy integration, which ingests entropy from independent, physics-based Quantum Random Number Generator (QRNG) providers to diversify key material. This approach provides defense-in-depth at the entropy layer, eliminating single-source dependency in key generation and reducing systemic cryptographic risk.

Additionally, the system offers regulatory and audit readiness through immutable logging and audit trails that demonstrate proof of entropy diversification, supporting compliance mandates. It ensures seamless integration and scalability by leveraging existing DSM workflows and APIs to ingest quantum entropy without hardware modifications, scaling globally to billions of transactions. Crypto agility is maintained without disruption, as DSM’s software-defined architecture allows for rapid updates and algorithm adoption. Confidential Computing protection ensures that encryption keys are generated and secured within Confidential Computing environments, preventing exposure to host operating systems or cloud administrators.

By incorporating multiple independent entropy sources, Fortanix aims to help organizations build resilience into their cryptographic supply chain, enhancing assurance against both classical and emerging quantum-era threats. Denis Mandich, CTO at Qrypt, highlighted Fortanix as a critical partner in modern data security, stating that Qrypt’s quantum entropy strengthens the foundation against future threats. George Dunlop, co-founder and director of partnerships at Quantum Dice, noted that their partnership brings verifiable quantum entropy into enterprise key generation, offering customers trusted randomness with enhanced auditability into key quality.

With native key management, hybrid multicloud support, flexible SaaS or on-premises deployment, and Confidential Computing protections, Fortanix DSM delivers crypto agility and future resilience as quantum computing and AI continue to reshape the threat landscape. Fortanix, a pioneer in Confidential Computing, offers a unified platform to protect sensitive data, AI models, and applications across various environments. Built on hardware-enforced security, Fortanix enables workloads to operate in tamper-proof, isolated enclaves, safeguarding against data leakage, model extraction, and unauthorized access. As enterprises scale AI operations, Fortanix provides a Confidential AI foundation built on attestation-based trust, secure key release, and zero-trust enforcement, ensuring AI systems remain verifiable, auditable, and trustworthy while enabling crypto agility and long-term resilience through post-quantum cryptography (PQC). Fortanix is trusted by enterprises and sovereign entities in highly regulated industries and is supported by technology providers including Intel, Microsoft, and NVIDIA.
