Highnote Enhances Commercial Card Issuing for Online Travel Agencies and Marketplaces

Highnote, a unified platform for modern issuing, acquiring, credit, ledger, and money movement, has expanded its commercial card issuing capabilities to support online travel agencies (OTAs), marketplaces, and travel platforms.

Leading OTA platforms are now leveraging Highnote’s virtual card programs, which include workflows designed for the specific requirements of travel supplier payments. The Highnote platform provides travel companies with the infrastructure to establish differentiated supplier payment programs at scale.

Customers can configure single-use virtual cards linked to bookings, enable staged supplier capture, and implement granular spend controls across various merchant categories. An integrated ledger provides real-time visibility into every authorization and capture. This approach aims to facilitate faster reconciliation, strengthen supplier relationships, and improve unit economics on transactions, partly through access to wholesale travel BINs across both major global card networks.

John MacIlwaine, CEO of Highnote, stated, “Travel is one of the most demanding environments in commercial payments, and what our customers are building on Highnote reflects that. Our platform was purpose-built so that the leading OTAs and travel marketplaces can move faster, differentiate their payment experiences, and continuously innovate while operating at scale. We are proud to power their programs, and we are seeing this same model unlock better economics across many other industries as well.”Unlike traditional, fragmented systems that often require travel platforms to integrate multiple vendors with inconsistent economics, Highnote centralizes issuing, controls, ledger, and reconciliation within a single system. This integration is designed to enable customers to launch programs in weeks rather than quarters and to continuously adapt them as their businesses expand.

Highnote has also optimized its Virtual Card Express (VCX) solution by incorporating access to these wholesale travel BINs. This enhancement is intended to accelerate platform onboarding and streamline the implementation of modern supplier payment models. These capabilities are currently available as part of Highnote’s commercial card issuing programs, supported by Highnote’s onboarding, compliance, and program management teams.

Highnote, headquartered in San Francisco, specializes in embedded finance, offering a platform for modern issuing, acquiring, credit, ledger, and real-time money movement. The company aims to provide businesses with the ability to design financial products tailored to their customers, workflows, and growth strategies, enabling faster launches, greater operational control, and continuous evolution of financial experiences.
