Genius Sports Finalizes Acquisition of Digital Media Network Legend

Share It:

Genius Sports Limited (NYSE:GENI), a global provider of real-time sports data, has completed its previously announced acquisition of Legend, a digital sports and gaming media network. This strategic move aims to integrate Legend’s scaled media platform and marketing technology with Genius Sports’ existing data infrastructure.

Legend operates prominent digital properties including Covers.com, Casino.org, and Casino Guru. In 2025, Legend reported 320 million annual visits from 118 million unique visitors, with over two-thirds of these users returning regularly. The acquisition positions Genius Sports as a company operating two synergistic businesses: official sports data, and media and advertising.

Mark Locke, CEO of Genius Sports, commented on the acquisition, stating, “Genius Sports has spent years building the data infrastructure behind modern sport. With Legend, we now extend that into the moment where fans choose to participate and act.” He added that this combination strengthens their core sports business, expands their ability to monetize new audiences in iGaming, increases the economic value of their platform across both verticals, and is expected to drive significant cash flow.

Genius Sports provides official data, technology, and broadcast partnership solutions to the global sports, betting, and media ecosystem. Its technology is utilized in over 150 countries, creating immersive products that enhance fan experiences across the sports industry. The company serves over 1,000 sports organizations, including major entities like the NFL, English Premier League, NCAA, DraftKings, FanDuel, bet365, Coca-Cola, EA Sports, CBS, NBC, and ESPN. Genius Sports leverages AI, computer vision, and big data to develop solutions from augmented broadcasts and enhanced highlights to automated officiating tools, immersive betting solutions, and personalized marketing activations, connecting the entire sports value chain from rights holders to fans.

Further details and updates regarding the acquisition are anticipated during Genius Sports’ upcoming earnings call on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
