Xsolla, a global commerce company, has significantly expanded its payment solution across Southeast Asia and Japan, integrating new local methods to enhance mobile-first checkout experiences for game developers and publishers.

This expansion through Xsolla Pay Station includes the launch of ShopeePay in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand; FPX in Malaysia; K PLUS and AIS in Thailand; Indosat in Indonesia; and MerPay in Japan. These additions aim to offer more trusted regional payment methods to players across Asia, with the goal of boosting conversions and driving long-term engagement for game developers.

The Asian gaming market continues to experience substantial growth, with the mobile gaming content market in the Asia-Pacific region projected to exceed $70 billion by 2025. Mobile gaming is anticipated to account for over 60% of all gaming revenue in the region, highlighting its rapid expansion and dominant role. Success in this mobile-first and highly localized market often requires deep cultural alignment, particularly at the checkout stage, where players frequently prefer popular digital wallets, bank transfers, or carrier billing over global credit cards.

The enhanced payment integrations offer several benefits, including access to trusted local payment methods with established reach. ShopeePay is prominent in Malaysia and Singapore e-commerce, FPX is used by 90% of Malaysian consumers, K PLUS is Thailand’s leading mobile banking app with 22.8 million users, AIS is Thailand’s second-largest mobile carrier with 44 million users, Indosat is a key carrier billing provider in Indonesia, and MerPay is a Japanese e-wallet serving 16.8 million users.

Furthermore, checkout flows are fully localized to provide regionally tailored language support for an intuitive and frictionless payment experience. Payment journeys are designed for mobile behavior, supporting QR codes, banking apps, and carrier billing without redirects, aligning with player preferences. This expansion provides access to over 1.5 billion gamers in high-growth markets, as Southeast Asia alone is projected to reach over 332 million gamers by 2028, with mobile contributing 60% of game revenue. The availability of familiar payment options and native-language checkout is intended to reduce cart abandonment and improve transaction success, especially among underbanked users who rely on wallets and telecom billing.

Chris Hewish, President at Xsolla, stated, “Asia continues to lead the global gaming economy, especially in mobile. To succeed in this region, developers must meet players where they are on their devices, in their language, and through their preferred payment methods. This is further supported by the fact that digital wallets are the most popular payment method among gamers in the Asian region, with over 75% using them to pay for games. With this expansion, we’re helping developers turn interest into transactions and build meaningful, localized experiences across Asia.”

These additions build upon Xsolla’s existing infrastructure, strengthening its position as a partner for developers aiming to expand into Asia. Developers and publishers interested in improving conversions in Asia can enable these payment methods directly through Xsolla Pay Station. Xsolla, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, operates as the merchant of record and has assisted over 1,500 game developers globally.
