Oslo-headquartered Visma announced on September 11, 2025, its acquisition of Alavie, an Italian company specializing in regulatory compliance software, marking a strategic move to enhance its offerings and further expand its market presence in Italy.
Alavie, founded in 1994 by CEO Vito Ziccardi, provides compliance software solutions primarily for accounting offices and professional service firms. Its flagship platform, Laegis AML, is designed to automate approximately 95% of manual compliance processes, monitor client changes, and issue alerts when specific actions are required.
The platform also incorporates GDPR privacy tools to assist with data protection compliance. Alavie is currently preparing to launch Laegis Notary later this year, a new solution tailored for notary offices, which will extend its reach into additional verticals.
This acquisition supports Visma’s strategy to grow its presence in Italy. The company, which entered the Italian software market last year with the acquisition of Fiscozen in Milan, currently services thousands of customers in the region with cloud accounting, payroll, invoicing, and HR business software products.
A spokesperson for Visma stated that Alavie “will continue to operate as an independent company, maintaining its brand, management, organisation and high quality services to its customers, while also powered by the shared resources and expertise of the Visma ecosystem.”In a related strategic development earlier this year, Visma agreed to sell Admincontrol, a provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) board and transaction management solutions, to stock exchange operator Euronext for €398 million in March. Visma had owned Admincontrol since 2017.
