S. Bank Payroll, an embedded solution designed to help small business owners manage their payroll directly within their online banking experience, developed in partnership with fintech company Gusto.
The new offering provides an all-in-one experience with a unified view across payroll, banking, and payments, aiming to simplify complex payroll tasks. Key features include the flexibility to pay employees by ACH or check, fast processing times allowing payroll runs as little as two business days before pay dates, automated tax compliance, and a streamlined onboarding process for existing clients. The solution also integrates industry-standard encryption and fraud protection for secure access.
According to a U.
S. Bank survey of 1,000 small business owners, 80% expressed a need for digital solutions to manage payroll, and 81% preferred service providers that could bundle their banking, payments, and operations digital tools. Shruti Patel, Chief Product Officer, Business Banking, at U.
S. Bank, noted that many small business owners currently juggle multiple unconnected software solutions, leading to excess time and cost. U.
S. Bank Payroll aims to mitigate this by integrating management within the online banking dashboard.
To build this solution, U.
S. Bank partnered with Gusto, a leading small business platform for payroll, HR, and benefits. Tomer London, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer at Gusto, stated that embedding Gusto’s payroll infrastructure directly into the U.
S. Bank platform is intended to make it easier for small businesses to onboard, pay, and support their teams with confidence and compliance. This collaboration is designed to extend Gusto’s technology to U.
S. Bank’s broad customer base.

S. Bank Payroll represents the latest addition to the bank’s integrated solutions for business clients, joining other offerings announced this year such as bill pay, Business Essentials, and Spend Management. U.
