State Street has announced the appointment of Christopher Herringshaw as its new global chief technology officer (CTO), effective August 4, 2026. Herringshaw will be responsible for the company’s enterprise technology strategy and execution, encompassing infrastructure, architecture, cloud, artificial intelligence, and application development.
Herringshaw’s new role follows Andrew Zitney, who served as CTO for five years before transitioning to chief information officer in July 2025. Herringshaw brings nearly three decades of industry experience to State Street.
Prior to joining State Street, Herringshaw was CTO at Vista Equity Partners from 2024 to 2025. His career also includes a 15-year tenure at Citadel, where he progressed from a lead technical architect to managing director of trading infrastructure technology. After his time at Citadel, Herringshaw held his first CTO position at Janus Henderson Investors.
This appointment is part of State Street’s ongoing strategic hires, which include Mark Wightman, formerly of EY, who joined earlier this year as executive vice president and head of transformation.
