Salesforce and OpenAI have announced an expanded strategic partnership, aiming to establish a new generation of employee and consumer experiences by integrating Salesforce’s Agentforce 360 platform and OpenAI’s frontier models across both platforms. This collaboration will allow companies to access Salesforce’s Agentforce 360 platform directly within ChatGPT, enabling queries for sales records, reviews of customer conversations, or the creation of Tableau visualizations through simple text prompts. Additionally, enterprises can leverage OpenAI’s latest frontier models, including GPT-5, to develop AI agents and prompts within the Salesforce Platform. A new commerce experience will also enable shared customers to sell to hundreds of millions of potential U.
S. users directly in ChatGPT, while maintaining full control over their processes, data, and customer relationships.
The partnership reflects a shift in the SaaS landscape, where dedicated point-and-click applications are evolving to incorporate multi-surface, agent-driven conversations. By combining OpenAI’s frontier models with Salesforce’s data-grounded enterprise workflows across ChatGPT and Slack, which collectively support over 800 million weekly users and 5.2 billion weekly messages, the collaboration seeks to provide powerful, enterprise-grade AI within users’ preferred work environments.

The announced integrations include the accessibility of Salesforce’s Agentforce 360 apps through the Apps in ChatGPT program, bringing enterprise intelligence, CRM data, and Tableau visualizations into ChatGPT conversations. For commerce, Agentforce Commerce will integrate with the Agentic Commerce Protocol, the standard powering Instant Checkout in ChatGPT, offering merchants a new channel to reach customers while retaining control of orders, payments, fulfillment, and customer relationships.
In communication workflows, the ChatGPT app for Slack will enable teams to surface insights, draft content, and summarize complex conversations directly within Slack. This integration also enhances Slack search results by incorporating internal knowledge from ChatGPT-connected tools. Furthermore, Codex, an OpenAI agent designed to write and edit code from natural language instructions, can now be tagged within a Slack channel or thread to delegate programming tasks, providing a link to the completed task in Codex Cloud.
Salesforce will also integrate OpenAI’s reasoning, voice, and multimodal capabilities into the Agentforce 360 Platform, enhancing the intelligence of agentic enterprise experiences. OpenAI will be featured as a preferred model, allowing Agentforce 360 customers to select it as their default Large Language Model (LLM) for the Atlas Reasoning Engine and Prompt Builder. Agentforce Sales and other applications can also incorporate OpenAI frontier models for richer context and faster analysis.
This partnership aims to transform the employee experience by ensuring intelligent, data-driven work occurs within conversational flows, providing secure and seamless access to the full enterprise stack in collaborative environments. Building on an existing foundation, OpenAI previously selected Slack as the first enterprise platform to deploy a third-party ChatGPT app. Employees using Agentforce Sales will gain instant, natural-language access to Salesforce CRM data and Tableau visualizations, leveraging OpenAI models for generative intelligence, context, and analysis. Integrating ChatGPT into Slack will empower teams to summarize conversations and draft communications efficiently. With Codex in Slack, developers can delegate programming tasks by tagging @Codex in a channel or thread, mirroring how they would interact with a co-worker.
The collaboration also helps businesses engage customers in their preferred channels, with commerce seamlessly integrated into conversational and AI-powered experiences. End-to-end commerce experiences, facilitated by Instant Checkout in ChatGPT and the Agentic Commerce Protocol, enable Agentforce Commerce merchants to capture demand and facilitate purchases when shoppers search for products in ChatGPT. By integrating Agentforce Commerce, merchants can offer secure, seamless transactions at the point of purchase intent, reducing integration costs and time to market. Product catalogs from Agentforce Commerce will appear in ChatGPT, and embedded checkout with the Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) and Stripe will support tokenized, privacy-compliant transactions. For instance, a sportswear retailer using Agentforce Commerce can display its product catalog in ChatGPT, allowing consumers searching for hiking gear to purchase items like new hiking boots directly through Instant Checkout, without leaving the app, while the retailer retains the customer relationship.
