Prime Coalition and Rho Impact Broaden Access to Climate Impact Data with Free CRANE Features on Koi Platform

Prime Coalition and Rho Impact have expanded free access to transparent and credible climate data for investors through a new phase of their partnership. The pioneering features of Prime’s CRANE tool, first launched in 2020 as forward-looking emissions impact software, are now available without cost on Rho Impact’s climate impact modeling platform, Koi. This integration aims to provide investors, accelerators, entrepreneurs, and educational institutions with the information needed for more informed climate investment decisions.

Despite increasing investments in climate technology year over year, many investment teams encounter challenges due to a lack of in-house capacity to thoroughly assess potential solutions. This often hinders their ability to allocate capital effectively towards technologies with significant climate change mitigation potential. Even those with assessment capabilities frequently struggle to access reliable data required for transparent and accurate forecasting.

To address this, Prime Coalition and Rho Impact are continuing their long-standing partnership by making key CRANE features freely available within the Koi platform. CRANE utilizes a methodology developed by a global community of climate investors convened by Prime. In contrast, Koi hosts a continually growing Data Lake and more than 6,000 verified solution models. The CRANE Tier allows investors and entrepreneurs to model the GHG emissions avoided or removed by novel climate technologies.

CRANE was initially launched in 2020 by Prime Coalition, a US-based nonprofit that supports philanthropists in advancing climate solutions, and Rho Impact, an innovator in climate impact forecasting and advanced data solutions. Since its inception, CRANE has served over 6,000 users and generated more than 125,000 emission impact assessment reports.

Keri Browder, Chief Growth Officer at Prime Coalition, stated, “As the need to mitigate climate change increases, it is critical that we continue to reduce barriers to credible climate impact assessment and make it easier for those deploying capital to make informed decisions. We are proud of our longstanding partnership with Rho Impact, which allows us to make this happen.”

Gilman Callsen, Founder and CEO of Rho Impact, commented, “Climate capital isn’t constrained by intent. It is constrained by fragmented, opaque, and incompatible data. We are building foundational climate data infrastructure for informed investing, and the CRANE free tier ensures continuity from the earliest startups through the world’s largest institutional investors.”

Prime Coalition, established in 2014, is a nonprofit public charity focused on empowering philanthropists to accelerate untapped climate solutions through catalytic investing and knowledge-sharing strategies. The organization has channeled $100 million of charitable investment capital, which has attracted $2.2 billion in external capital for climate solutions. Prime also launched Project Frame, a community providing resources to investors on future climate impacts.

Rho Impact, founded in 2017, develops climate data infrastructure for informed investment decisions. The company has compiled a comprehensive dataset on emerging climate solutions, encompassing technology performance, market dynamics, and emissions factors across over 10,000 solutions. This data powers Koi, an AI-driven platform that enables investors to forecast decarbonization potential across various investments and multi-asset class portfolios. Rho Impact assists institutional investors and asset managers globally in directing capital towards credible climate solutions.
