Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union (MHV), a New York-based credit union, has partnered with Spiral, a platform specializing in personalized banking experiences. The collaboration aims to enhance MHV’s ability to grow and retain deposits cost-effectively while offering innovative, personalized digital services to its members.
Through this partnership, MHV members will gain access to Spiral’s Savings Center, designed to help them achieve financial goals. The platform enables automatic savings through personalized, gamified experiences, including innovative Auto-Savings and goal tracking functionalities. Members can set and work towards objectives such as purchasing a home, starting a business, buying a car, or saving for travel, making the saving process more accessible and engaging. This initiative addresses the broader challenge where the average personal savings rate in the U.
S. remains below 5%.
Additionally, the partnership will transform everyday transactions into opportunities for savings and community impact. Members can opt to automatically round up their daily purchases, directing the spare change towards their personal savings goals or supporting charitable causes and local nonprofits. A new Giving Center will allow direct donations from banking accounts, enable members to create a personalized portfolio of causes, track their charitable contributions, and receive donation reports for tax purposes.
Nicole Tompkins, Chief Experience Officer at Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union, stated, “With Spiral, our members can reach their financial dreams while giving back to the causes they love, turning everyday banking into a force for their families and community.”
By integrating Spiral, MHV intends to increase awareness and digital donations for local nonprofits, potentially attracting more charitable organizations to leverage the platform for fundraising, donation matching, and community-wide events. This aligns with the credit union’s long-standing commitment to financial literacy and community engagement, extending its efforts to help members translate financial education into practical action and sustained impact.
Shawn Melamed, CEO and Co-founder of Spiral, commented, “MHV is leading the way in helping members save more and make a difference. We’re proud to empower more credit unions to grow deposits, deepen relationships, and become the primary institution in their communities.”
