Lloyds Banking Group, the UK’s largest retail and commercial financial services provider, has selected NCR Atleos Corporation (NYSE: NATL) to implement its ATM as a Service (ATMaaS) proposition and latest technology in pilot programs for branch modernization at its flagship locations in Manchester and Glasgow.

The initiative involves introducing Atleos’s recycling technology, which includes coin in and coin out functionality, alongside transaction processing and engineering services. This aims to enhance the branch experience and improve operational efficiencies. A key objective is to free branch colleagues from ATM maintenance, allowing them to focus more on customer engagement and relationship building.

Clare Buckley, Branch Transformation Product Owner for Lloyds Banking Group, stated, “We have enjoyed collaborating with NCR for over 20 years, during which time they’ve proven to be a reliable, responsive, and innovative partner, which is why we chose to work with NCR Atleos for the next phase of our branch modernization program test proof of concepts.” She added that with NCR Atleos’s end-to-end service, the bank anticipates reducing counter service traffic, thereby allowing employees to dedicate more time to meaningful customer interactions. These efforts are expected to enhance the branch experience and increase operational efficiencies.

Under the agreement, NCR Atleos will manage hardware, software, logical security, installation, maintenance, cash forecasting, and processing for these strategic locations. This approach is intended to optimize ATM availability and facilitate quicker implementation of new features and functionalities for the bank.

Diego Navarrete, Executive Vice President, Global Sales for NCR Atleos, commented, “As a financial services leader, Lloyds Banking Group understands the importance of embracing innovation to stay competitive and meet evolving customer needs. We are proud to be chosen to support the next phase of their branch transformation strategy.” He noted that the strategic pilots would enable Lloyds Banking Group to reduce back-office complexities while delivering more innovative and robust self-service experiences, ultimately serving customers more efficiently and expanding access to cash and other critical financial services.

NCR Atleos (NYSE: NATL) specializes in expanding self-service financial access, leveraging its ATM expertise and operational scale, which includes one of the largest independently-owned ATM networks. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, with approximately 20,000 employees globally, Atleos focuses on improving operational efficiency for financial institutions, driving footfall for retailers, and enabling digital-first self-service experiences for consumers.
