Kion, an automated CloudOps and FinOps platform, has announced the availability of its solution for Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) customers via the Amazon Web Service (AWS) Marketplace, aiming to streamline cloud service acquisition for the U.

S. Department of Defense (DoD).

Kion’s platform offers multicloud automation, combining CloudOps features like cloud provisioning, access controls, and compliance with cloud cost management and FinOps capabilities. This is designed for defense and intelligence agencies operating in highly regulated environments where national security and operational integrity are critical.

The platform provides continuous compliance with frameworks such as NIST, FedRAMP, and DoD Impact Levels (ILs), ensuring that all accounts across various teams maintain security and compliance by default. Concurrently, its budgeting, spend tracking, and cost optimization tools are intended to help agencies reduce waste, enhance fiscal accountability, and reallocate cloud spend towards high-priority mission outcomes.

John Lynch, COO at Kion, stated, “For the defense community, cloud adoption isn’t just about modernization. It requires security, financial and operational discipline. We’re trusted by numerous defense and intelligence agencies because we deliver the tools necessary to scale operations and the guardrails to do it in a secure, compliant and efficient fashion. Being available to JWCC customers via AWS Marketplace is a privilege, and we’re proud to serve as a partner helping these institutions meet their cloud objectives.”

Unlike external cloud-based SaaS solutions, Kion is deployed and managed directly within each agency’s environment. This self-hosted model is designed to assist agencies in meeting stringent security requirements. Kion supports flexible deployment, functioning on hardened machine images or within cloud-native container services like Amazon Fargate.

The platform also supports federal agencies’ efficiency initiatives by unifying cloud governance, automation, and financial management into a single solution. This consolidation is particularly relevant as agencies prepare next-cycle budgets under increased scrutiny for demonstrating efficiency gains. Kion is a member of the AWS Partner Network, holding Government, Cloud Operations, and Security Software Competencies, and supports AWS GovCloud (US), AWS Secret, AWS Top Secret, and AWS Commercial regions.

Kion specializes in automating CloudOps through a single platform that delivers policy-based FinOps, identity management, and compliance for multicloud infrastructure. The company aims to enable “governance by default” by improving visibility, automation, guardrails, and guidance across diverse cloud environments, thereby reducing complexity and enabling faster innovation with reduced risk. Kion serves various commercial, higher education, and government entities, including Indeed, Verizon, NASA, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
