Intuit Inc. (Nasdaq: INTU) has inaugurated its new Intuit TurboTax flagship store in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, marking the nationwide launch of nearly 600 Expert Office locations and 20 new TurboTax Stores. This expansion, initiated last year, combines agentic AI with human intelligence (HI) to redefine personal and small business tax filing, offering a done-for-you experience.
The new flagship store at 463 Broadway in SoHo is central to Intuit’s strategy of merging its digital platform with physical presence. By integrating advanced agentic AI with a network of local, AI-powered human expertise, Intuit aims to create a system that anticipates consumer needs, automates tax preparation, and provides filers with confidence based on their unique tax situations. The company states its consumer platform is designed to help filers find more money, easier and faster.
Mark Notarainni, Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Group at Intuit, stated, “We are fundamentally redefining what it means to get taxes done by delivering a first-of-its-kind seamless integration of our digital and physical experience.” He added that the new store is a physical manifestation of Intuit’s AI+HI strategy, offering a modern space where AI and local human expertise converge to provide trusted, personalized guidance and alleviate tax-related stress.
Intuit is reimagining the tax landscape through these TurboTax stores, which serve as a high-touch front door to bring digital filing and in-person expertise together. These locations utilize a connected platform uniting Credit Karma and TurboTax to support customers comprehensively. By eliminating manual data entry through an integrated digital-to-physical journey, the stores are designed to provide customers with time savings and peace of mind.
Key features of the TurboTax store experience include agentic AI-powered “Done-For-You” services, which automate data entry for 90% of commonly used tax forms and can prepare up to 80% of a simple filer’s return before the customer begins. An AI-driven system matches customers with local tax experts for their specific situation within seconds, whether in-store or online. The seamless digital and physical integration allows customers to start their taxes in one location and finish them in another, with a digital handoff ensuring local experts can continue precisely where the customer left off. Filers have flexible options, including “Do It With Me” (DIWM) support in a Community Workspace or handing off their return entirely to an expert in private Full Service offices. The flagship store’s Forum, a 30-foot digital screen, offers immersive discovery and education through interactive content to highlight expert guidance and financial options.
TurboTax is strategically opening stores in various metropolitan areas nationwide. Up to 20 new stores are planned to open before the tax deadline in locations such as New York (SoHo Flagship, Harlem, Williamsburg, Garden City), Southern California (Culver City, Pasadena, Costa Mesa), Chicago (Fulton, Armitage), Dallas (Belt Line, Park Lane), and Phoenix (Scottsdale). In addition to these storefronts, TurboTax has activated nearly 600 Expert offices across the country, expanding its physical presence for local, face-to-face support.
The grand opening of the SoHo Flagship included an event featuring Intuit CEO Sasan Goodarzi and Consumer Group EVP Mark Notarainni. Cultural icon Issa Rae conducted a fireside chat, joined by guests such as Aaron Judge and DJ Mick, with a musical performance by Anderson .
Paak & the Free Nationals.
As part of the grand opening, Intuit announced a $100,000 donation to NYCPS (New York City Public Schools), aiming to provide students with resources for financial literacy, capability, and confidence. Intuit partnered with Gensler, an architectural, design, and planning firm, for the physical locations’ design and architecture, and BUCK, a global creative company, for the Forum’s interactive content design. Jones Lang LaSalle Americas, Inc. (JLL) served as the brokerage partner.
