Hack The Box (HTB), a global provider of gamified cybersecurity readiness and upskilling solutions, has announced the appointment of Gibb Witham as its new President and Chief Financial Officer, following strategic acquisitions and product launches.
Gibb Witham joins HTB from Paladin Capital Group, a cybersecurity-focused investment firm and an early investor in Hack The Box. The company, which has secured over $66 million in total funding, aims to accelerate its mission of empowering cybersecurity professionals and enterprises worldwide. Witham brings two decades of experience spanning finance, strategy, and cybersecurity innovation.
In his new role, Witham will oversee HTB’s global financial operations and growth strategy. His appointment coincides with a period of significant expansion for HTB, which recently completed the strategic acquisition of LetsDefend and launched Threat Range. These initiatives are designed to enhance HTB’s capabilities in adversary emulation and cyber defense readiness, reinforcing its position as an enterprise partner for resilience validation, breach risk mitigation, and large-scale cyber talent development.
Haris Pylarinos, Founder and CEO at Hack The Box, commented on the appointment, stating, “Gibb brings the rare combination of financial acumen, strategic insight and a deep technical understanding of the cybersecurity landscape. His leadership will be pivotal as we expand globally and accelerate our mission to build and empower the world’s cybersecurity workforce.” While at Paladin, Witham led investments in high-growth cybersecurity, AI, and enterprise infrastructure software companies across the US and Europe, and previously served on HTB’s Board of Directors.
Witham expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, remarking, “Hack The Box has redefined how cybersecurity readiness is developed, validated and scaled across the world. I’ve seen firsthand the power of this platform, and I’m excited to join Haris and the team at such an important moment and accelerate the next chapter of growth, particularly as AI radically changes both the threat landscape and how security professionals are upskilled, enabling organizations to get ahead of threats instead of constantly chasing them.”
Witham’s appointment is part of a series of recent executive leadership changes at HTB. Earlier this year, Nikos Maroulis was appointed Vice President of AI, Christine Bartlett joined as Senior Vice President of Marketing, and Gerasimos Marketos was promoted to Chief Product Officer. HTB currently serves a global community exceeding 4 million cybersecurity professionals, students, and enterprises.
Founded in 2017, Hack The Box offers a platform that combines gamified labs, role-based academies, Capture The Flag (CTF) competitions, advanced certifications, and AI-enhanced upskilling modules. This approach is designed to equip individuals and organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, government entities, and MSSPs, with the skills necessary to navigate the evolving cyber threat landscape and build cyber resilience at scale.
