ebankIT Acquires SecuritySide to Bolster Digital Banking Platform with Enhanced Authentication
Banking technology provider ebankIT has acquired SecuritySide, a Portugal-based security firm, to integrate enhanced authentication and identity protection into its digital banking platform.
Banking technology provider ebankIT announced its acquisition of SecuritySide, a company specializing in authentication and identity protection. The move aims to enhance the security features of ebankIT’s digital banking platform, though the transaction terms were not disclosed. Renato Oliveira, CEO at ebankIT, stated, “This acquisition allows us to deliver trust at every level, from the core to the edge, ensuring that our customers remain ahead of threats while accelerating innovation.”
Founded in 2018 as a spinoff from Alten subsidiary ITSector and based in Porto, Portugal, SecuritySide offers solutions such as TrustFactor, a multi-factor authentication tool, and Mobile Protection Shield (MPS), designed for securing mobile applications. The company also provides cloud consulting, DevSecOps consulting, penetration testing, and retesting services, currently serving over 500,000 users across four global markets.
SecuritySide’s solutions, including TrustFactor and MPS, will be integrated into ebankIT’s omnichannel digital banking platform. This platform provides online banking services for banks and credit unions, featuring capabilities such as account management, money transfers, bill payments, and mobile check deposits.
EbankIT’s current client base includes institutions like Jamaica National Bank, Kuwait International Bank, Metropolitan Commercial Bank, and Home Trust Company. The company is also developing an AI Transactional Banking Assistant, which is scheduled for unveiling at FinovateFall 2025 in New York City this week.
