Bolt, a company specializing in checkout, identity, and payments, has partnered with Socure, a digital identity verification platform, to integrate Socure’s RiskOS platform into Bolt ID, aiming to strengthen identity confidence, reduce fraud, and streamline the checkout experience for merchants and consumers.
The collaboration enhances Bolt ID, Bolt’s checkout-native identity layer, by leveraging Socure’s global Identity Graph, predictive risk signals, and compliance decisioning. This integration is designed to verify legitimate individuals in real time at the point of purchase, thereby building a more robust ecommerce identity layer across Bolt’s network of merchants and consumers.
Justin Grooms, President of Bolt, stated, “Bolt ID is designed to authenticate real people, not just score transactions. Socure provides the identity intelligence that helps us understand when a shopper’s signals don’t add up so we can stop sophisticated fraud in checkout without compromising trust, privacy, or conversion.” He drew an analogy to lending money to a trusted friend, emphasizing that reduced uncertainty simplifies and lowers the cost of transactions.
Since its launch, Bolt ID has focused on mitigating synthetic identity fraud, a complex challenge for merchants. The integration with Socure’s RiskOS platform enables Bolt ID to dynamically evaluate identity trust during checkout, moving beyond static onboarding checks. This capability allows Bolt to detect high-risk behaviors as they occur, without subjecting legitimate shoppers to repetitive verification processes.
Socure’s Hosted Flows facilitated the rapid deployment of the required onboarding and identity verification experience, bringing Bolt ID from concept to production in a matter of weeks. Merchants utilizing the enhanced Bolt ID are expected to experience decreased exposure to synthetic identity fraud, fewer unnecessary verification steps during checkout, reduced costs associated with risk assessment, and higher approval rates without added friction.
Johnny Ayers, Founder and CEO of Socure, commented on the partnership, stating that it demonstrates Socure’s ability to provide high-fidelity identity trust at scale. He highlighted how enabling Bolt to launch a secure onboarding and checkout experience quickly, and replacing a fragmented vendor stack with a unified intelligence layer, exemplifies the power of Socure’s Identity Graph in detecting synthetic identities and preventing fraud.
Looking ahead, Socure’s Identity Graph is slated to support Bolt ID’s expanded roadmap. This includes facilitating low-friction authentication for trusted consumers, implementing adaptive protections against emerging abuse patterns, and integrating cross-merchant trust signals to minimize the need for repeated identity verification.
Bolt, headquartered in San Francisco and Incline Village, Nevada, provides B2B and B2C offerings, including CheckoutOS, Bolt Ignite, and the SuperApp. Its platform aims to enhance conversion and loyalty for merchants like Revolve, Kendra Scott, and Lilly Pulitzer, while offering over 80 million shoppers one-click checkout and secure, cross-site identity.
