BGC Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: BGC), a global brokerage and financial technology company, has launched BGC Compute Infrastructure Markets (BGC CIM), a new division dedicated to creating a transparent and efficient secondary market for compute and memory capacity.
BGC CIM is positioned within BGC Group’s Energy, Commodities and Shipping (ECS) business and will initially concentrate on the over-the-counter (OTC) market. The division aims to provide institutional-grade market structure to the emerging digital economy sector, facilitating transparent price discovery, real-time risk management, and more efficient execution for participants.
The establishment of BGC CIM addresses the increasing demand for a structured secondary market for compute and memory, which have become critical assets due to the accelerated adoption of artificial intelligence. BGC Group leverages its experience as a global energy broker to develop this new market.
Marc Kuber and Zach Espinosa will serve as Co-Heads of BGC CIM, offering dedicated brokerage support to clients navigating this asset class. Zach Espinosa stated, “The secondary market for compute is quickly becoming one of the most consequential commodity markets in the world economy. As demand continues to accelerate, BGC CIM has been created to meet our clients’ needs to manage their infrastructure price risk via trusted access to liquidity, market intelligence and seamless execution.”
Clients of BGC CIM will also access BGC Group’s broader resources, including Fenics Market Data, its market data business, and Lucera, its connectivity platform. These integrated capabilities are intended to foster a more transparent, connected, and efficient marketplace for AI infrastructure.
John Abularrage, Co-Chief Executive Officer of BGC Group, commented on the market characteristics: “Compute and memory capacity have many of the characteristics of a commodity market, including supply-demand volatility, forward price risk and the need for clear pricing. As the world’s leading energy broker, BGC is uniquely positioned to help clients with execution and liquidity to achieve their long-term economic objectives in the age of AI.”
BGC Group, Inc. operates as a global marketplace, data, and financial technology services company across various products, including fixed income, foreign exchange, energy, commodities, shipping, and equities. Its offerings also encompass the FMX Futures Exchange, a U.
