Tradlinx Introduces New Demurrage & Detention Monitoring Feature in Ocean Visibility Solution

Tradlinx, a global import-export logistics platform based in Seoul, South Korea, has launched a new Demurrage & Detention (D&D) Monitoring feature within its TRADLINX Ocean Visibility supply chain management solution to address persistent cost management challenges in ocean logistics.

Demurrage and detention (D&D) are significant cost drivers in ocean logistics, making effective management crucial for protecting margins. The new feature aims to improve day-to-day efficiency for logistics teams and tackle this industry-wide issue.

The D&D Monitoring feature tracks each container’s terminal dwell (time at the port) and street dwell (time outside the terminal) in real time. This capability allows logistics managers to immediately identify cargo at risk of exceeding its allotted free time. Users can filter for containers that have remained in the terminal beyond a specific threshold, such as “more than 7 days,” or whose returns are delayed after pickup. This eliminates the manual checking of pickup and return schedules for individual shipments, enabling teams to focus proactively on at-risk cargo before additional costs are incurred.

The feature offers flexibility for diverse operational environments. Large shippers can integrate the monitoring system with their internal ERP systems via API for continuous real-time cost oversight. Forwarders can generate Excel reports containing risk data, providing their shipper customers with clear, data-driven assessments. Examples include alerts for “12 containers nearing free time expiration” or estimations of “$8,000 in additional costs.”
