Sapiens, a UK-based insurtech, has appointed Paul Wheeler as its new Chief Executive Officer, transitioning from his role as Chief Financial Officer. Mike Ettling, who served as interim CEO, will continue as executive chairman.
Wheeler will serve as CEO designate through the Sapiens Ignite Summit in Nashville this October, with the full handover expected to be completed by year-end. He brings nearly 40 years of financial leadership experience, having held executive positions including CFO and Chief Operating Officer at companies such as Operative, eFront, Trema, and Jobpartners.
Wheeler joined Sapiens as CFO following the company’s acquisition in December 2025 by private equity investor Advent, where he previously served as a senior operating advisor. During his tenure at Advent, he collaborated with Mike Ettling, who had been an operating partner at Advent since May 2025. Following the acquisition, Roni Al-Dor stepped down as CEO and president of Sapiens, with Ettling assuming the roles of interim CEO and executive chairman. Ettling will support Wheeler during the transition period.
