Ares Management Corporation has completed the acquisition of BlueCove Limited, a London-based systematic fixed-income manager, integrating it as Ares Systematic Credit within its Credit Group.
Ares Systematic Credit will offer systematic fixed-income strategies, utilizing data and technology to deliver investment solutions. The strategy employs proprietary technology to support an evidence-based and data-driven investment process across high-yield, investment grade corporates, convertible bonds, and other liquid credit instruments. This methodology aims to systematically access, select, analyze, and deploy information to capitalize on market inefficiencies and generate high-quality alpha.
Alex Khein, formerly CEO of BlueCove, will lead Ares Systematic Credit as Partner and Head. The team consists of approximately 60 experienced professionals, primarily based in London, specializing in investment and portfolio management, research, and engineering.
Michael Smith, Co-Head of the Ares Credit Group, commented on the acquisition, stating that the Systematic Credit strategy benefits from an experienced team, proprietary technology, and an R&D-informed investment approach. He added that these capabilities, combined with the Ares platform, position them to address increasing global investor demand for systematic credit investment products.
Alex Khein noted that joining Ares enhances their ability to deliver best-in-class investment solutions by leveraging Ares’s platform, insights, resources, and networks. He also stated intentions to expand the offering and breadth of R&D activities in the systematic investment sector.
Following the acquisition, the Ares Credit Group manages $397 billion of assets as of September 30, 2025, which includes BlueCove’s approximately $5.5 billion in assets under management (AUM). Ares Management Corporation, a global alternative investment manager, oversees over $595 billion in AUM across credit, real estate, private equity, and infrastructure asset classes as of the same date, with operations spanning North America, South America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East.
