YeePay UK, a subsidiary of the Chinese paytech YeePay, has been granted an electronic money institution (EMI) licence by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), strengthening its operational capabilities in the UK market.
The regulatory authorisation, announced on August 14, 2026, enables YeePay UK to offer “secure, regulated, and efficient payment services across international markets,” according to a statement from the company on LinkedIn.
This development follows YeePay’s partnership with the UK-based clearing and embedded banking firm ClearBank in April. ClearBank had previously stated its commitment to support YeePay through its application for an EMI licence in both the UK and the Netherlands.
Upon approval, YeePay is set to adopt ClearBank’s banking infrastructure. This integration will provide its clients with indirect access to UK and European payment schemes and facilitate the issuance of named local virtual IBANs (VIBANs) to its end-merchant customers.
Established in 2003, YeePay specialises in embedded payment services designed to support international growth. The company currently processes over $720 billion annually across more than 200 countries.
