Xsolla Introduces Direct Payment Solution for Android Game Developers, Enhancing Revenue Retention and Regulatory Compliance

Xsolla, a global commerce company focused on the video game industry, has launched its Buy Button for Android, an SDK solution designed to enable mobile game developers to implement direct in-game payments that comply with U.

S. regulatory changes stemming from the Epic Games v. Google antitrust case.

The new SDK allows developers to direct players from within their Android games to a web-based checkout, offering a significant alternative to traditional app store payment systems. This functionality mirrors a capability already available to iOS developers and aims to help developers retain up to 95% of their revenue, in contrast to the up to 30% typically charged by platform fees.

Xsolla emphasizes that the Buy Button for Android is compliant with evolving U.

S. regulations, aligning with precedents established in major antitrust rulings. This development comes as advertising costs for mobile games rise and platform rules continue to tighten, creating a demand for direct and flexible monetization paths for developers.

Chris Hewish, President at Xsolla, stated, “This is a major moment for Android developers in the U.

S. We’ve created a compliant, conversion-first solution that’s fast to launch, secure, and designed to put developers back in control of how they sell, scale, and engage their players.”

The Buy Button SDK is described as lightweight, facilitating launch within 24 hours. When combined with Xsolla’s broader Web Shop and Pay Station solutions, it provides a direct-to-consumer (D2C) model with a branded checkout experience. The underlying payment infrastructure is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant, supporting features like autofill and one-tap purchases to optimize conversion rates.

Integrating with the Web Shop, developers can access dynamic SKU and catalog synchronization, cross-platform reward delivery, personalized promotions, player segmentation, A/B testing, and Offerwall features designed to monetize non-paying users. Xsolla indicates that the deployment of the Buy Button SDK and Web Shop requires minimal engineering effort and is supported by its global team and real-time reporting infrastructure.

Xsolla, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, operates as a merchant of record, serving over 1500 game developers globally by providing tools and services for funding, distribution, marketing, and monetization.
