Syncro Launches Universal Billing to Automate Third-Party License Invoicing for MSPs

Syncro, a platform provider for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and IT teams, has launched Universal Billing, a new feature designed to automate the invoicing of third-party software licenses and reduce revenue loss for MSPs. This enhancement integrates third-party license data directly into Syncro’s existing recurring billing engine, aiming to eliminate the need for manual reconciliation between vendor reports and professional services automation (PSA) systems.

The MSP industry frequently encounters challenges with missed or inaccurate billing for third-party licenses, leading to lost revenue. Universal Billing addresses this by automatically pulling daily license counts from supported vendors within the Syncro Marketplace. This data is then mapped to individual customers and incorporated into recurring invoices, maintaining accuracy even as usage fluctuates.

At launch, Universal Billing supports Proofpoint, with plans for expansion to include all Marketplace offerings by year-end. This will include Microsoft licensing through Syncro’s new XMM™ platform, with further integrations anticipated in 2025.

Andy Cormier, channel chief at Syncro and a former MSP owner, stated, “If I were to ask a room full of MSPs how many have lost revenue to third-party licenses being missed or inaccurately billed, every single hand would go up — including mine. Universal Billing is our love letter to billing admins everywhere. We know how painful it is to manually reconcile licenses between vendors and your PSA. It’s not just error-prone — it’s a complete waste of time.”

Customers have already reported positive outcomes. Philip Semplice, president and CEO at SafSecur, commented, “We moved our Proofpoint instance over to Syncro to take advantage of its new Universal Billing functionality, and this has completely eliminated the need to manually update our invoices each month. Best of all, it just works. With our previous syncing, it only updated once a month and was very unreliable. Also, the move had virtually no impact on us, and it was all on the backend. Moving our add-on business to Syncro was a wise decision.” Tom Bull, president and CEO of Two River Computer, added, “My company is thrilled with Syncro’s new Universal Billing feature. During the initial setup, we discovered a few Proofpoint licenses we hadn’t been billing for — an immediate win. Now we no longer have to spend time manually reconciling license counts each month. It’s a huge time saver for us and has turned into a great way to capture missed revenue. Can’t wait to see more integrations released for Universal Billing.”

Key benefits of the new feature include the elimination of manual reconciliation, assurance of accurate invoicing through daily usage data, reduction of billing errors, and scalability to support a growing list of Marketplace vendors. The company states it delivers immediate return on investment by helping MSPs recover lost revenue and free up administrative time. As MSPs broaden their service offerings and manage more tools and vendors, accurate billing becomes increasingly complex. Universal Billing is part of Syncro’s strategy to enable MSPs to operate more efficiently, reduce administrative burden, and improve profitability. Universal Billing is currently available to all Syncro users.

Syncro offers an Extended Monitoring and Management (XMM) platform designed for midsized MSPs and internal IT teams. The unified platform integrates RMM (endpoint management), professional services automation (PSA), and Microsoft 365 multi-tenant management.
