Quilt Software Launches “Roundup” Feature to Enable Charitable Giving for Specialty Retailers

Share It:

Quilt Software, a technology provider for over 20,000 specialty retailers across North America, has launched a new “roundup” feature. This tool enables shoppers to round up their purchases and donate the change to national charity partners, allowing local retailers to facilitate charitable giving during peak shopping periods, including Giving Tuesday 2025.

The feature is designed to allow specialty retailers utilizing Quilt’s solutions to automatically enable charitable giving at checkout. This capability provides independent, local businesses, often deeply connected to their communities, with a structured method to support causes important to them and their customers, mirroring the scale of national retail brands.

Andrew Stern, CEO of Quilt Software, stated that specialty retailers are integral to their local communities. He noted that the new feature allows them to support causes ranging from senior feeding programs to family home rebuilding efforts, reflecting the spirit of Main Street giving. Stern emphasized that an impact can be made collectively, with thousands of Main Street shops extending their reach across the U.

S. without needing to be Fortune 500 retailers.

Participating retailers span various industries, including jewelry, grocery, music, knitting, and thrift stores. This initiative creates a national network of independent retailers supporting several charity partners, including Meals on Wheels, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Quilts of Valor, Habitat for Humanity, and Jewelers for Children.

Mircea Prejbeanu, owner of Paul’s Jewelers in West Allis, WI, expressed gratitude for Quilt Software’s assistance in participating in this charitable effort, particularly around Small Business Saturday and Giving Tuesday. Prejbeanu highlighted how Quilt helps their store give back to the community that supports their business, deepening the local connection that defines local shopping.

Sara Murphy, Executive Director at Jewelers for Children, commented on the reliance of her organization on local connections to reach those in need. She observed that Quilt’s network of local specialty retailers allows thousands of neighborhood businesses to contribute to a national impact, one child and one round-up donation at a time.

Quilt Software serves as the technology backbone for over 20,000 independent stores across North America, including pet supply shops, musical instrument stores, and jewelers. The company provides purpose-built technology that enables these local retailers to operate with the operational sophistication typically associated with national chains. Quilt’s platform integrates point-of-sale (POS), loyalty programs, inventory management, customer relationship management (CRM), reporting, and payment processing, equipping specialty retailers with the tools to manage and expand their businesses. Its tailored solutions allow Main Street businesses to focus on customer service, product expertise, and community engagement.
