Prove and Backbase Integrate Identity Verification to Streamline US Digital Banking Onboarding

Prove, a provider of digital identity solutions, and Backbase, which offers an AI-powered banking platform, have announced a strategic partnership to enhance customer onboarding for financial institutions in the United States. The collaboration aims to address challenges in digital banking, including fraud prevention and onboarding friction, by integrating identity verification with secure customer experiences.

The integration embeds Prove Pre-Fill® into the Backbase AI-powered Banking Platform, designed to improve the account opening and digital lending experience for banks and credit unions. With customer consent, the Prove Pre-Fill solution uses a mobile phone number to instantly populate online forms with verified information such as Social Security number, name, address, and date of birth. This process is intended to eliminate manual data entry, contributing to a smoother customer experience, fewer errors, and reduced abandonment rates.

Mayank Somaiya, VP of Marketplace at Backbase, stated, “By integrating Prove’s cutting-edge Pre-Fill technology, we’re helping banks and credit unions deliver faster and more intuitive onboarding while maintaining the highest levels of security. This partnership confirms our commitment to delivering innovation that solves real problems for financial institutions and their customers.”

The solution also aims to strengthen fraud defenses at the initial point of contact. Prove Pre-Fill verifies customer information in real-time utilizing Prove’s Identity Graph, a dynamic network of linked devices, credentials, and identifiers. This allows Prove to confirm identity deterministically, a process intended to deter malicious actors and enable a seamless onboarding journey for legitimate customers.

Scott Greenhut, SVP of Channel & Partnerships at Prove, commented, “We’re thrilled to partner with Backbase to help institutions accelerate digital transformation while protecting their customers. Prove eliminates one of the biggest pain points in digital onboarding, while adding a layer of trust and security from the first interaction.”

The partnership offers several reported benefits, including accelerated account opening through pre-filling digital forms with verified identity data, reduced fraud, enhanced risk controls via Prove’s Global Fraud Policy, an improved customer experience designed to increase conversion and build trust, and operational efficiency through fewer manual reviews and faster onboarding.

The integrated solution is currently available to financial institutions across the United States through the Backbase AI-powered Banking Platform. The initial application focuses on account opening and onboarding, with further applications anticipated.

Backbase, founded in 2003 with its global headquarters in Amsterdam and Americas headquarters in Atlanta, provides an AI-powered Banking Platform that consolidates servicing and sales journeys into an integrated suite.
