Property Guardian announced a new partnership with KatRisk at RIMS RISKWORLD 2026, integrating Property Guardian’s wildfire risk intelligence into KatRisk’s Perilfinder platform via API. This collaboration aims to enhance how insurers and risk professionals evaluate wildfire exposure by combining forward-looking hazard insights with long-term catastrophe modeling within a single workflow.
Property Guardian’s datasets provide wildfire intelligence to Perilfinder, covering near-term fire behavior, dynamic moratorium decision support, and property-level resilience and mitigation insights. These integrated datasets assist users in identifying where wildfire risk is likely to emerge, how active events may develop in real time, and how individual properties might perform during a wildfire. KatRisk’s catastrophe models complement these capabilities by offering a stochastic, long-term view of risk, simulating thousands of potential events to quantify loss potential across different time horizons for pricing, reinsurance, and capital decisions.
Martyn Sutton, General Manager at KatRisk, stated, “Insurers are increasingly being asked to make decisions across very different time horizons. This partnership brings those perspectives together, combining near-term wildfire intelligence with probabilistic modeling to help clients understand not just what risk looks like today, but how it can evolve and accumulate over time.”
Through this integration, Perilfinder will incorporate three key Property Guardian datasets. Wildfire Recurrence Scores provide a forward-looking perspective on where wildfires are most likely to occur and their potential frequency, analyzing historical fire activity, vegetation, and surrounding wildfire patterns to highlight areas with elevated near-term risk. Wildfire Moratorium Insights, powered by five-day fire spread forecasts, offer dynamic, short-term wildfire intelligence that predicts fire evolution in real time and removes areas where fires are contained, aiming for more precise moratorium decisions. Wildfire Resiliency Scores and Mitigation Modifiers offer a detailed view of a specific property’s potential performance in a wildfire scenario, drawing on over 150 datasets including aerial imagery and geospatial analysis to evaluate factors across structural, parcel, community, and regional levels.
Combining these datasets with KatRisk’s catastrophe models allows users to transition between short-term risk signals and long-term loss potential, from identifying immediate risk buildup to understanding portfolio-level impact over time.
Pat Blandford, Founder & CEO of Property Guardian, commented, “Wildfire risk demands more than a single lens. By partnering with KatRisk, we’re bringing Property Guardian’s forward-looking wildfire intelligence into a broader catastrophe modeling workflow, helping insurers and risk professionals connect what may happen next with what it could mean across a portfolio over time. It’s a powerful combination of near-term decision support and long-term risk perspective, and we’re excited to make that capability available through Perilfinder.”
This partnership aligns with KatRisk’s focus on connecting science, data, and decision-making, providing a comprehensive understanding of wildfire risk through the integration of near-term wildfire intelligence with probabilistic modeling within the Perilfinder platform.
