PCI Pal, a global provider of cloud-based secure payment solutions, has launched the PCI Pal Connector, an integration designed to bring PCI compliant, omnichannel payments directly into Epic, a leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This expansion enhances PCI Pal’s healthcare payment capabilities.

Healthcare organizations frequently encounter challenges stemming from fragmented and complex payment processes. Many existing workflows operate outside the EHR environment, which can lead to data silos, manual reconciliation efforts, and increased costs associated with collections.

The PCI Pal Connector aims to address these issues by enabling secure, omnichannel payments—including via phone, keypad, or digital link—within established Epic environments. This integration ensures that sensitive payment data is securely routed through PCI Pal’s PCI DSS Level 1 certified cloud platform, preventing it from entering Epic or internal systems and thereby de-scoping healthcare teams from PCI compliance.

According to Mufti Monim, Chief Technology Officer at PCI Pal, the integration with Epic assists healthcare organizations in enhancing patient engagement by embedding payments into existing care and communication workflows. This approach is intended to result in faster collections, a more accessible payment experience for patients, and a notable reduction in compliance burdens for providers.

Healthcare providers can now process payments securely within the Epic workflows used daily for patient billing, registration, and follow-up processes. Agents can initiate or support payments directly from Epic’s tools, with transaction details automatically recorded within the EHR system. Patients gain flexibility to pay using their preferred methods, such as card, ACH, or digital wallet.
