NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL and Accenture have announced a collaboration to develop and scale the Universal Wallet Infrastructure (UWI), a platform designed to provide enterprise-grade digital trust services for issuing, verifying, and managing digital credentials and tokens across various domains.
The UWI aims to ensure seamless interoperability across enterprises, governments, industries, and geographies, facilitating innovation, protecting user consent, and creating new revenue opportunities while adhering to regulatory standards. This initiative addresses the challenges of a digital and AI-powered global economy, where individuals seek greater transparency and control over their data, and organizations aim to leverage data and AI for risk reduction, efficiency, and resilience.
The platform is designed to bridge existing fragmented and siloed systems by utilizing decentralized technologies. This approach enables secure, trusted, real-time data exchange and coordination among partners, and supports AI at the edge for personalized services. By granting users control over their information, UWI intends to foster trust and facilitate secure data sharing, which can drive innovation, reinforce compliance, and improve customer experiences.
Potential applications span multiple sectors. In government services, UWI could help reduce fraud, streamline paperwork, and improve access. For employers, it could optimize processes related to hiring, training, mobility, and compliance. In the travel industry, the infrastructure may enable smoother, personalized journeys across different service providers.
Hiroki Kuriyama, President and CEO of NTT DOCOMO GLOBAL, stated, “We are creating a new social infrastructure built on the core values of trust and interoperability. Through this collaboration, we are accelerating the global rollout of Universal Wallet Infrastructure (UWI) to establish a new foundation of digital trust worldwide.
