A study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of Navan, a platform specializing in business travel, payments, and expense management, found that the Navan platform delivered a 376% return on investment (ROI) over a three-year period. The analysis indicated that customers saved 16% annually on business travel, based on a composite organization analysis.
The Forrester Consulting study, titled “The Total Economic Impact™ of Navan,” evaluated the platform’s ability to streamline travel and expense programs. Key findings from the study include a payback period of less than six months and $9.1 million in total benefits over three years, derived from both cost savings and productivity gains. The 16% travel savings were attributed to negotiated rates and smart policy controls within the platform. Additionally, the study noted that travel could be booked in under five minutes, representing a 70% time saving per booking.
Michael Sindicich, President at Navan, commented on the findings, stating, “This study puts hard numbers on what our customers tell us: when you eliminate the work of travel and expenses, everyone wins. Employees get a tool they love and finance teams escape chasing receipts to focus on strategy. With Navan you don’t have to choose between a great employee experience and powerful financial control — you can have both.”
One Navan customer, a Global Category Manager in Life Sciences, reported, “We had multiple regional TMCs and point solutions. With Navan, we consolidated everything into one platform. Our savings are 17% of our travel spend in 2023 and a steady 20% for 2024 and 2025.”
Navan’s platform utilizes AI to personalize travel booking, learning employee preferences and presenting options within company policy. The Forrester study indicated that employees can book trips in less than five minutes. Navan data supports this, showing that 70% of all bookings on its platform originate from the first five options displayed to employees.
