Coinme has named Laurent Reichert as its Chief Compliance Officer, a key appointment occurring as the company prepares for its acquisition by Polygon Labs and aims to expand its fiat on- and off-ramps into new jurisdictions.
Reichert joins Coinme from Paxos, a blockchain infrastructure platform, where he served as chief compliance and risk officer since 2024. His professional history includes senior positions at MoneyGram International, WorldRemit, Earthport, and a five-year tenure as chief compliance officer at Nium.
The appointment precedes Coinme’s acquisition by Polygon Labs, a transaction agreed upon earlier this year. Following the deal, Coinme is set to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Polygon Labs, with its compliance infrastructure integrated into Polygon’s Open Money Stack. This platform, currently in technical preview with limited early access for partners, enables financial institutions to move money across both traditional banking and blockchain rails using US dollar stablecoins, international stablecoins, and merchant tokens.
In his new capacity, Reichert will supervise Coinme’s compliance function, focusing on developing the necessary licensing, monitoring, and reporting frameworks to operate its fiat on- and off-ramps in additional jurisdictions. Coinme anticipates that Polygon ownership will accelerate this expansion. Additionally, Reichert is tasked with supporting the scaling of Coinme’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform, launched in 2022, which allows banks and fintechs to integrate licensed fiat on- and off-ramps along with stablecoin and digital asset money movement capabilities.
Neil Bergquist, co-founder and CEO of Coinme, commented on the appointment, stating: “Licensed access to the financial system is the hardest part of this business to build and the easiest to take for granted. Laurent gives us the compliance leadership to take that regulated infrastructure into new jurisdictions as we deepen our partnership with Polygon Labs and support our partners’ rapid growth.”
