Global Payments Inc., a global provider of payment technology and software solutions, and Banco Nacional de México, S.A., a member of the Banamex Financial Group, have announced the multi-year renewal and expansion of their strategic alliance. This collaboration aims to deliver commerce solutions to the acquiring and banking services market in Mexico.

The renewed alliance underscores the ongoing efforts by both companies to establish market leadership, identify new opportunities, and enhance outcomes for merchants. Through its EVO Payments business, Global Payments currently processes nearly 900 million transactions across more than 250,000 installed point-of-sale (POS) systems in Mexico. This extended partnership is designed to serve a broad range of merchants, from small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) to large enterprises, encompassing both digital-native and traditional brick-and-mortar establishments.

Under the terms of the alliance, Global Payments will continue to provide integrated and embedded payment solutions, complemented by Banamex’s banking services offerings.

Gabriel Mejía, Global Payments’ General Manager for Mexico, stated, “Our strategic alliance with Banamex has been an outstanding success story, and we are pleased to continue serving the needs of merchants across Mexico with our valued partner. Together, we will continue driving innovation forward so that businesses have the full range of leading commerce solutions they need to compete and win while delivering exceptional experiences for their customers.”

Sinead O’Connor, Banamex’s Head of Consumer Banking, commented, “Aligned with Mexico’s growth, we continue to increase our robust technological payments infrastructure and strengthen our digital capabilities, enabling us to address and provide the best financial and payment solutions for SMEs and Corporates, which are the driving force behind local development.” O’Connor cited INEGI data indicating that SMEs generate 52% of national revenue. She added, “The strategic alliance between Banamex, one of the most trusted brands in Mexico and a locally systemically important financial institution as designated by the CNBV, and Global Payments will enable both companies to continue enhancing the payments ecosystem to better serve clients and the Mexican market.”

This extension represents a significant development in the two companies’ joint commitment to advancing market leadership and delivering merchant solutions in the Mexican market.
