eCapital UK Appoints John Nelson as Managing Director Amidst Leadership Transition

eCapital UK, the regional subsidiary of US lendtech eCapital, has appointed John Nelson as its new UK managing director, effective August 12, 2026, as part of a leadership transition.

Nelson’s appointment includes joining the UK board. He will assume executive responsibilities for the UK business, including day-to-day leadership and the development of specialist funding solutions. This transition occurs as former managing director and current CEO, David Tilling, moves into an executive chair role over the coming months.

Nelson brings over 35 years of experience to the position, having held leadership roles across various sectors. His career includes previous stints as a director at FRP Advisory, and positions at Investec, Bibby Financial Services, Royal Bank of Scotland, GE Capital, and Lloyds TSB prior to its 2013 split.

eCapital UK, originally founded in 2001 as Advantedge Commercial Finance, rebranded in 2022, two years after its acquisition by eCapital in 2020 for an undisclosed amount. The company currently serves as a specialist lender for small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), offering a range of asset-based and supply chain financing solutions.

This leadership change is part of eCapital UK’s ongoing efforts to align executive titles with its US parent company. In early July, the UK subsidiary also appointed Mark Finn as chief revenue officer.
