Auckland-based payments technology firm Centrapay has announced the appointment of Tim Wixon as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 24, 2026, bringing his experience from the Bank of New Zealand (BNZ).

Wixon joins Centrapay from BNZ, where he had been employed since 2014. His appointment follows the departure of Greg Beehre, who left Centrapay in February 2026 after leading the company since 2021, succeeding founder Jerome Faury.

At BNZ, Wixon established the bank’s Technology Industries portfolio in 2015. In this role, he supported technology companies by facilitating access to financing, banking support, expertise, and networks essential for growth and scaling. His career prior to BNZ included positions at Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, the Financial Markets Authority, and Bell Gully. Wixon currently serves on the board of Tech New Zealand and co-chairs FinTechNZ, the country’s fintech industry working group.

Karna Luke, Centrapay chair, stated that Wixon “impressed us throughout the selection process with his strategic thinking, commercial acumen and clear vision for the future of fintech.”

The appointment of Wixon reinforces the existing relationship between Centrapay and BNZ. At the close of 2024, BNZ made an undisclosed investment in Centrapay. This investment built upon an ongoing collaboration that included the development of Payap, a digital wallet and point-of-sale application launched last year.
