Azul Prime Enhances Transaction Capacity and Reduces Infrastructure Costs for Major Asian Digital Payments Platform

Azul, a leader in enterprise Java, announced that one of Asia’s largest digital payments platforms achieved up to 15% more concurrent transactions and over a 20% reduction in application instances through the pilot implementation of Azul Prime.

Digital payment platforms are tasked with processing thousands of requests per second while simultaneously managing operational costs. The specific customer’s transaction workflows involve numerous interconnected Java microservices, where even minor latency spikes can lead to service level agreement (SLA) breaches, failed transactions, and potential customer dissatisfaction.

By piloting Azul Prime across its production and staging workloads, the platform recorded a 20-30% reduction in application instances, alongside latency improvements of up to 30% across P50 through P99 percentiles. This also resulted in a 15% increase in concurrent transaction capacity. These improvements were achieved without any modifications to the existing application code. Azul Prime functions as a drop-in replacement for standard OpenJDK, allowing for deployment across dozens of production microservices without requiring re-architecting or disruptions to existing CI/CD pipelines.
