Artajasa and Ant International Form Strategic Partnership for Cross-Border Payments and Digitalization in Indonesia

PT Artajasa Pembayaran Elektronis (Artajasa), a prominent payment system infrastructure provider in Indonesia, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ant International, a global digital payment and financial technology provider, to integrate cross-border payment solutions, AI-powered mobile innovations, and SME digitalization across Indonesia and Ant International’s global ecosystem. This collaboration aims to drive digital transformation and deliver value across the payment ecosystem for industry players, merchants, and consumers.

The MoU was officially signed in Singapore by Armand Hermawan, President Director & Chief Executive Officer of Artajasa, and Pan Yan, Head of Strategic Partnership Office for Alipay+, Ant International. This agreement signifies a strategic partnership intended to expand the reach of digital payment services and foster technological innovation, connecting Indonesia’s payment infrastructure with the global digital payments ecosystem.

Artajasa operates as a leading payment system infrastructure provider in Indonesia, connecting over 80,000 ATMs and 98 ATM Bersama member institutions nationwide. The company is also a major provider of QRIS services, supporting payment acceptance for more than 41 million merchants across the country. Artajasa’s payment ecosystem serves various industries including telecommunications, multifinance, insurance, public services, energy, education, transportation, electronic money, credit cards, and e-commerce. Additionally, Artajasa manages an extensive ATM network and EDC deployments through a broad agent network across Indonesia.

Ant International, through its four business pillars—Alipay+, Antom, Bettr, and WorldFirst—provides technology solutions that aim to enhance global connectivity and inclusion. These solutions include AI-powered payment capabilities, growth tools, and SME digitalization offerings. Its unified wallet gateway, Alipay+, has supported the development of major superapps in Asia and connects over 1.8 billion user accounts from 40 international payment partners to more than 150 million merchants in over 100 markets.

Armand Hermawan, President Director & Chief Executive Officer of Artajasa, commented on the collaboration, stating that the future of payment and financial services is dependent on interconnected ecosystems built on collaboration, trust, and continuous innovation. He noted Ant International’s position as a global benchmark in digital payments, highlighting the strategic nature of this partnership. Hermawan added that the MoU reflects Artajasa’s commitment to open collaboration, insight exchange, and joint exploration of innovative opportunities to advance the payment ecosystem.

Edward Yue, Alipay+ General Manager for SEA, ANZ and South Asia, Ant International, stated that Indonesia is a dynamic digital economy and expressed Ant International’s intent to collaborate with Artajasa to further Indonesia’s digital capabilities and learn from the local ecosystem. He affirmed that Ant International would support Artajasa and local Indonesian partners with its technologies and expertise, extending beyond payments, to make innovation accessible to local users and businesses. Yue emphasized the potential for empowering new opportunities and contributing to Indonesia’s digitalization journey through this collaboration.

As an initial phase of the partnership expected in 2026, Artajasa and Ant International anticipate that the combination of local infrastructure and global technology will accelerate inclusive digital economic growth. The collaboration is projected to enhance cross-border transaction mobility for Indonesian consumers and international visitors, while strengthening the global competitiveness of Indonesia’s national payment system industry.
