Swiftly, a retail technology company, has announced a partnership with Key Food Stores Co-Operative, Inc., a chain of over 460 family-owned supermarkets, to integrate Swiftly’s App & Web platform with Alcohol Cashback™ solutions to enhance digital shopper engagement and develop new retail media revenue streams.

This collaboration addresses the growing need for independent grocers to provide robust digital tools, as more than 70% of U.

S. shoppers now initiate their grocery journey online. With digital retail media projected to reach $100 billion by 2027, Key Food selected Swiftly to streamline its technology stack and leverage its solutions to foster loyalty, create new revenue channels, and enhance long-term competitiveness.

Dean Janeway, CEO of Key Food Stores Co-Operative, Inc., stated, “Key Food currently operates in eight states and in our largest market we are serving over 8 million shoppers. Partnering with Swiftly is a strategic investment in our future and allows us to create a more connected, personalized experience that drives bigger baskets, deeper loyalty, and sustainable growth.” Key Food’s network includes over 460 supermarkets, with $5.5 billion in annual sales, operating under banners such as Key Food, Food Universe, The Food Emporium, and SuperFresh across multiple East Coast states and Florida.

Swiftly, founded in 2018, provides turnkey, enterprise-grade solutions designed to help regional and independent grocers compete with larger retail entities. Retailers utilizing Swiftly’s platform have consistently reported increases in basket sizes, trip frequency, shopper loyalty, and digital engagement. The platform also contributes to higher app adoption, increased digital circular interaction, and generates incremental Return on Ad Spend (iROAS) for Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) partners, averaging between $25 and $35. More than 70 retailers nationwide currently use Swiftly to advance their digital transformation and retail media initiatives.

Henry Kim, Co-founder and CEO of Swiftly, commented, “Digitally engaged shoppers are a retailer’s most valuable asset, and Key Food is taking bold action to lead in this new era. Swiftly exists to level the playing field for independent grocers, and with Key Food we see tremendous opportunity to create measurable value—greater shopper loyalty, increased in-store traffic, and long-term revenue growth across all 460+ stores.”

The implementation of Swiftly’s solutions across Key Food’s banners is scheduled to commence in the coming months, introducing new digital tools, personalized promotions, and enhanced shopper experiences to communities across the East Coast.
