Ant International’s Alipay+, in collaboration with global technology company Meizu, has announced the launch of its smart glasses-embedded payment solution. The initiative completed the world’s first real-world smart glasses-embedded e-wallet payment transaction in Hong Kong.
The successful transaction took place on Meizu StarV Snap smart glasses using AlipayHK, Hong Kong’s leading superapp. This follows Alipay’s earlier debut of a smart glasses payment solution with Rokid in China, marking Alipay+’s continued advancement in mobile payment innovation. Users of the new solution can execute payments seamlessly via QR scans or voice commands from their smart glasses. The system is supported by Alipay+’s AI-powered voice interface, intent recognition, and voiceprint authentication technologies.
The new payment feature is slated for rollout to Alipay+ global partner e-wallets in 2025, coinciding with the integration of Alipay+’s upgraded tech suite for smart glasses. In April 2025, Meizu officially announced its role as a global pioneer in offline AI glasses-enabled mobile payment functions, powered by Alipay+. Alipay+’s advanced payment SDK solutions are integrated into all new Meizu smart glasses, leveraging Meizu’s optical waveguide display, voice noise reduction, and camera-based code scanning technologies.
Alipay+ currently connects over 1.7 billion user accounts across 36 global e-wallets, national QR schemes, and banking apps to 100 million merchants in more than 70 core markets. Through a single integration, wallet partners gain access to Alipay+’s expanding toolkits designed for customer engagement and business growth. These tools now include QR-based and card payments via a global NFC solution, alongside a range of agentic AI features, such as MCP-based AI payments built on Alipay+ GenAI Cockpit, an AI-as-a-Service platform for fintechs.
Peng Guo, General Manager of the XR Division at Meizu, stated, “The offline payment function of smart glasses launched overseas by Meizu and Alipay+ has set a new technological benchmark for the industry. The innovation in the payment scenario has enhanced the practicality and appeal of smart glasses and also promoted the progress and development of the AR glasses industry. We hope this function will bring more convenient experiences to users.”
Jiangming Yang, Chief Innovation Officer of Ant International, added, “We are grateful to work with industry leaders like Meizu to pioneer smart glasses-embedded payment solutions. By unlocking payment capabilities, smart glasses will rapidly transform into the next-gen personal device like the mobile phone. We look forward to supporting more industry partners with one integration into Alipay+‘s premium wallet ecosystem across global markets, to help them build broader user scenarios and achieve growth.”
