Belize Bank Implements Backbase’s AI-Native Banking OS for Digital Transformation

Share It:

Belize Bank has adopted Backbase’s AI-native Banking OS solution to modernize its digital banking back-end operations and enhance the customer experience for its retail and business clients.

The Banking OS platform is designed to replace fragmented workflows with instant self-service options, accelerate digital onboarding processes, and provide unified cash-flow visibility for business clients. Internally, this implementation aims to eliminate operational silos, offering teams a consolidated customer view to reduce service resolution times.

Belize Bank, established in 1902 and operating in its current structure since 1987, states it is the largest commercial and retail bank in Belize. It serves over 100,000 clients and manages more than $1 billion in total assets. This adoption builds on previous technology infrastructure upgrades; in October 2025, Belize Bank selected Finastra Essence for its core banking system, followed by a partnership with i2c in November 2025 to further expand its tech capabilities.

Backbase’s Banking OS will be layered on top of the existing Essence system to expand Belize Bank’s digital retail and business banking services. The platform will utilize Backbase’s Grand Central connectivity layer to integrate with the bank’s current IT infrastructure.

To complete its modernized technology stack, Belize Bank will also integrate solutions from Backbase partners. These include Feedzai for fraud prevention, Jumio for identity verification, and DocuSign for e-signature capabilities. The AI-driven functionalities within Banking OS are a result of Backbase’s acquisition of agentic AI provider Kasisto in June 2026, which enhanced the platform with AI agent capabilities.
