Yellow Card, a US-based stablecoin infrastructure provider, has secured $40 million in strategic funding to facilitate its expansion into Latin America (LatAm) and Asia Pacific (APAC).
The company, which currently holds licenses, authorizations, and registrations to operate in 22 jurisdictions across North America, Europe, and Africa, intends to utilize the new capital to broaden its local payment rails and currency coverage in LatAm and APAC. This expansion will also enable the firm to introduce its Global USD Accounts solution to a wider range of businesses in these regions.
Yellow Card’s flagship offering, Global USD Accounts, provides businesses with US dollar accounts designed for holding and swapping stablecoins, managing treasury operations, and executing and collecting payments in over 50 currencies across more than 50 countries.
While the lead investor for the round was not disclosed, Sony Innovation Fund participated, which Yellow Card stated would be crucial for deepening its reach in Asia-Pacific. Other strategic investors in the round included Standard Chartered’s SC Ventures, Polychain Capital, and Blockchain Capital.
This latest funding round brings Yellow Card’s total equity funding to $120 million, building on its previous $33 million Series C in October 2024 and a $40 million Series B in 2022.
Founded in 2016 by CEO Chris Maurice and CTO Justin Poiroux, Yellow Card commercially launched in Nigeria in 2019 as a retail crypto exchange focused on simplifying cross-border payments in Africa. By 2022, the company had extended its presence to 16 African countries and reported serving over one million customers. In late 2025, Yellow Card transitioned its focus from its retail application to specialize in B2B stablecoin infrastructure, now serving major financial services entities such as Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, and Coinbase.
