Costas Michael has stepped down from his role as founding CEO of Revolut Digital Assets Europe, effective August 14, 2026. Georgios Vasiliou, hired by Revolut last month from Trading.com, will succeed Michael in the leadership position. Michael confirmed his departure via a LinkedIn statement, indicating he will remain engaged with the business as a board advisor.
During his more than four-year tenure, Michael oversaw significant expansion for Revolut Digital Assets Europe. His leadership was instrumental in securing Cyprus’s first Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) licence and achieving compliance with the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, which enables the passporting of services across all 27 EU member states. Michael also led operational launches in Italy, Spain, Croatia, and the Netherlands, and built a team of over 50 individuals focused on scaling cryptocurrency products, including staking, Revolut X, and crypto learning modules.
Michael described his time leading the division as “one of the most demanding and rewarding chapters of my career,” noting that the business “played a central role in the growth of Revolut’s global crypto operation.” Revolut’s 2025 annual report cited crypto trading and staking as primary catalysts for the 31% yearly increase in its wealth division revenue, which reached $876 million.
Michael expressed “full confidence in the people taking it forward” and confirmed his continued involvement as a board advisor. His successor, Georgios Vasiliou, previously served as CEO of Trading.com for just over a year, having led the trading platform since early 2025. Before his time at Trading.com, Vasiliou managed risk and middle office functions for several years at the online forex and CFD broker XM.
