Thredd, an AI-first issuer processing platform, and Pliant, a Berlin-based commercial credit and embedded finance provider, have expanded their partnership to introduce Pliant’s commercial credit card offering to businesses in the United States.
This collaboration allows Pliant to extend its European commercial credit model into the US market, providing businesses with access to card products that feature real-time visibility into spending and cash flow. Pliant’s platform integrates credit issuance, lending decisioning, and reconciliation capabilities into a single system, enabling businesses to manage expenses, credit facilities, and reporting efficiently. The company, founded in Berlin in 2020, has developed its offering to support mid-market fintechs, commercial banks, and enterprises across Europe and is now expanding this model into North America.
The program is now live on the Visa network, supported by bank sponsorship from Coastal. An initial rollout, which commenced in late 2025, facilitated the onboarding of early US customers. Pliant operates an API-first B2B payments platform that combines card issuing infrastructure with embedded spend management tools, allowing banks and fintechs to deploy and manage commercial card programs for customers ranging from small and medium-sized businesses to enterprises. Thredd contributes its cloud-based issuer processing infrastructure, offering debit, credit, digital wallet, and ledger services through a unified API.
Thredd CEO Jim McCarthy stated, “This partnership reflects exactly what Thredd is built for: helping proven fintechs expand into new markets quickly and with confidence. Having supported Pliant with their mature commercial credit proposition, we knew we could execute on their ambitious U.
S. timelines. Together, we delivered a scalable platform that supports embedded finance, real-time reconciliation, and sustainable growth.” Pliant CEO and co-founder Malte Rau added, “We are happy that Thredd as a global provider and trusted partner in the EU is able to support our complex use cases in the US as well.” This US launch marks a key part of Pliant’s broader North American expansion strategy, aimed at increasing its market presence and developing its existing commercial credit solutions.
