Guardsquare, a provider of mobile application security, has completed the acquisition of Extended Threat Defense (XTD) technology and assets from Verimatrix, a move aimed at enhancing its mobile app security platform for global developers and enterprises.
Verimatrix’s XTD technology is designed to predict, detect, and respond to threats before mobile applications can be exploited. This acquisition by Guardsquare reinforces its commitment to providing comprehensive mobile application security, addressing the increasing need for robust protection in a landscape where mobile attacks are prevalent. According to Verizon, 85% of organizations are experiencing a rise in mobile attacks, with 43% identifying mobile app threats as a primary contributor to data breaches.
Roel Caers, CEO of Guardsquare, stated that the acquisition marks a significant milestone for mobile security and aligns with the company’s ongoing M&A strategy to enhance its platform and expand customer reach. He added that the integration of XTD complements Guardsquare’s existing mobile app security platform by reinforcing its end-to-end approach, which includes automated testing, multi-layered protection, real-time threat monitoring, and API security.
The acquisition is also expected to strengthen Guardsquare’s global presence, enabling the company to better serve customers while diversifying its reach into key sectors such as financial services and healthcare. Furthermore, the transaction incorporates new engineers and security personnel from the XTD team, whose expertise is anticipated to accelerate the evolution of the Guardsquare platform.
Guardsquare has committed to ensuring seamless continuity for existing XTD customers, assuring no disruption to current services, support, or product operations. Customers are expected to continue receiving the same standard of support as the XTD technology integrates into the Guardsquare platform. The company also plans to maintain close collaboration with the existing XTD partner ecosystem, allowing partners to continue their sales and support functions.
