1Password, a provider of Extended Access Management (XAM) solutions, has announced a strategic collaboration agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS). This agreement aims to assist enterprises in closing the Access-Trust Gap and accelerating secure cloud adoption, signaling a long-term commitment to co-innovation and global expansion between the two companies. The collaboration seeks to address increasing enterprise demand for scalable, secure, and simplified access management, particularly in complex hybrid and AI-driven environments.
According to David Faugno, Co-CEO of 1Password, the collaboration with AWS is designed to advance their objective of helping modern enterprises manage access and trust in an AI-centric operational landscape. Faugno stated that 1Password provides a security platform for organizations to maintain security and confidence as AI agents reshape workflows and new trust challenges emerge across cloud layers. He emphasized that working with AWS enables the delivery of scalable access management solutions to a wider customer base, prioritizing trust, speed, and productivity in enterprise transformation.
Modern organizations are experiencing an Access-Trust Gap due to the increasing use of unsanctioned applications, AI agents, and untrusted devices handling sensitive company data. 1Password’s Extended Access Management aims to address this by securing all sign-ins, applications, and devices. The company has seen significant sales traction through AWS Marketplace, with contracts averaging four times the size and win rates exceeding 50%. 1Password currently secures one-third of Fortune 100 companies.
The new SCA is expected to facilitate global expansion and accelerate innovation in agentic AI through co-developed solutions. It also includes deeper engagement with AWS leadership, expanded participation in co-sell initiatives and partner programs, and strategic investments intended to access new markets, customer segments, and industry verticals. Chris Sullivan, Vice President, Americas Channels & Alliances at AWS, noted that 1Password offers value to customers relying on secure AWS cloud computing environments for sensitive workloads. Sullivan highlighted that the expanded collaboration enhances the ability of both companies to provide robust access management solutions specifically for AWS, enabling organizations to secure their cloud environments while maintaining agility in an AI-driven landscape.
As part of this initiative, a new secrets syncing integration with AWS Secrets Manager has been introduced. This integration, part of the 1Password Extended Access Management platform, is designed to simplify how developer, security, and IT teams manage secrets in cloud-native workflows. Key benefits include simplified secrets management at scale by consolidating secrets management and enforcing role-based access to application secrets; enhanced developer velocity by embedding secure access into CLI, CI/CD, and AI workflows without compromising speed; and granular access control for human and AI identities through fine-grained policies that protect credentials and ensure compliance. Ivan Blagdan, Chief Technology Officer at Convertiv, commented that 1Password Extended Access Management provides real-time assurance that all devices accessing sensitive data meet their security standards, balancing productivity and protection. Stephan Brostrøm, CTO of Odins.ai, noted that 1Password has been essential for scaling AI development securely, providing a trusted method for managing credentials and access without impeding developer efficiency.
1Password Extended Access Management provides an identity security layer to manage AI agents with the same rigor as human identities, while maintaining developer velocity and operational scale. The platform enables customers to build and scale AI agents securely by eliminating hardcoded secrets, enforcing least-privilege access, and providing visibility into agent activity.
1Password, which reports serving over 165,000 businesses and millions of consumers, specializes in Extended Access Management. The 1Password Extended Access Management platform is designed to secure every sign-in, to every application, from every device, including those beyond the reach of traditional IAM, IGA, and MDM tools. Companies such as Asana, Associated Press, Aldo Group, Canva, IBM, MongoDB, MediaComm Communications, Octopus Energy, Slack, Salesforce, Stripe, Under Armour, and Wish are listed as users of 1Password to address security risks associated with unfederated identities, unmanaged applications, devices, and AI agents accessing sensitive company data without adequate governance controls.
