Zip, a prominent agentic procurement orchestration platform, is marking its fifth anniversary by significantly expanding its office presence in San Francisco and New York, driven by substantial workforce growth and widespread enterprise adoption.

Since its founding, Zip has grown from 250 to over 500 employees within the past year. This expansion supports its increasing roster of Global 2000 customers across various industries, including financial services, telecommunications, healthcare, defense, and retail.

Five years ago, Zip’s founders focused on addressing the complexities of procurement, a process that gained significant C-suite attention due to recent supply chain disruptions, inflation, and tariffs. The company states that its foundational vision, combined with ongoing innovation and AI development, has led major global enterprises like OpenAI and Discover to adopt its platform.

According to Rujul Zaparde, Co-founder and CEO of Zip, the company has achieved 100% retention among its strategic enterprise customers. He noted that Fortune 500 companies are choosing Zip over established vendors, reflecting a fundamental rethinking of procurement. The platform has processed over hundreds of billions in total purchasing request volume since its inception.

Zip’s growth from a startup to an enterprise standard includes securing $190 million in Series D funding in October 2024, achieving a $2.2 billion valuation. This funding represents a significant investment in procurement technology over the last two decades.

Key milestones for Zip since its 2020 founding include hundreds of global enterprise customers such as AMD, Anthropic, Canva, Coinbase, Discover, Lyft, Northwestern Mutual, OpenAI, Pinterest, Reddit, Sephora, and Snowflake. The platform has reportedly generated $4.4 billion in customer savings, with clients averaging a 3.6% reduction in total spend and 25% in productivity gains. Product innovations include the introduction of intake, pioneering orchestration, and launching an agentic AI suite with over 50 procurement agents, which has delivered 4.6 million AI insights and recorded 14 million customer comments.

To accommodate its growth trajectory, Zip is expanding its physical footprint. Its new San Francisco headquarters has doubled its office space to 75,000 square feet, accommodating over 200 employees. In New York, Zip is establishing a permanent Manhattan headquarters. The company also maintains over 60 employees across EMEA, with ongoing expansion efforts in London. Overall, the workforce has grown from approximately 250 to over 500 employees in the past year, with a significant allocation of spending towards research and development.

Zip’s innovation timeline highlights its evolution: In 2020, it introduced intake and procurement orchestration. By 2021, it launched dynamic approvals and integrated with over 25 enterprise systems. In 2022, it expanded to full Procure-to-Pay capabilities. The company embedded generative AI into its platform in 2023, delivering AI-powered insights. In 2024, following its Series D funding, Zip launched its Integration Platform and established the Zip AI Lab. In 2025, it introduced Agentic Procurement Orchestration, featuring a suite of over 50 specialized AI agents designed to autonomously manage complex procurement tasks, including tariff analysis and contract reviews.

Lu Cheng, Co-founder and CTO of Zip, stated, “Five years ago, we introduced intake to the world. We scaled orchestration. Now, we’re shaping the agentic future with 50+ AI agents that are redefining what procurement is capable of.” He added that the company is
